The scariest job ever.

I wanted to shoot these guys in the morning, on my way to the office. But I was scared. Scurred, even. They were dangling right about Caribou coffee, and the sound of water droplets meeting their fate on the hot pavement made me shudder.

So I waited. Then, I went out to lunch, camera in tow. I was walking slowly down the alley, then, I felt a droplet of water hit my face, and looked up:

Up above.

And grinned. And snapped. :)

I could NEVER do what they do. Being tethered by a few ropes stories above everyone---ack.

Just wanted to share this with y'all :)

So...being in the house since Monday has been an learning experience. I crave the outdoors. I've also learned several things about my dear hubby.

As you may know, (or may not know), Cory's a syndicated cartoonist. He's in newspapers all over the country, and I'm super-proud of him.

You can visit his website by clicking on the pirate below:

Oh, and if he's not gracing the pages of your local newspaper, write to the editors. They like that sort of thing. It makes them feel warm and fuzzy on the inside :)

We're both artists. We both have our methods to creating what we do for a living. But b/c I have a day job, I'm never at home to watch my hubby work. All I know is, Wednesday through sometimes-Saturday is crunch time. Deadlines are deadlines are deadlines. Sometimes I'll be off to work come Thursday morning, and I usually have to nudge him awake from the floor, where he's sprawled out amid a pile of drawings, his laptop blaring talk radio, and assorted pens and pencils scattered about. I'd post an incriminating photo, but he's my webmaster, and I'm sure he has a grillion embarrassing photos of yours truly that he will not hesitate to post in a public forum. :)

But this week, while being drooly from Vicodin, and unable to really go out and do things on my own, I learned:

1. His writing process is usually conducted: a) in the bathroom b) downstairs in our inherited chair (I'll be sure to make a separate post about that) in the living room, masked by utter silence. But mostly I think he writes a lot on the man-throne. Nothing like Charmin to get your pen scratching the paper!

2. He watches a LOT of judge shows. I knew before, that he had an affinity for them, but...this man watches them RELIGIOUSLY.

3. He's quiet, but when Photoshop runs slow, he yells at the laptop. It's endearing.

4. He draws SUPERFAST and it's always perfect each time. I'm secretly jealous. I wish I could draw as well as he does.

So, it's been an interesting week, after all. I've kinda staked ground in the 2nd bedroom, his 'office' b/c I figured he wouldn't hear my whimpering from the bedroom, and I can say, I'll be sad to pack up my hard drives and my laptop and retreat to my 'office,' the living room next week.

I think I might push myself really hard to go out into the world tomorrow and shoot something. I've got shutter finger itch something serious. :)
